What is PTE Academic?

The Pearson Test of English (PTE) is a widely known and accepted standard language test that assesses the English proficiency of a candidate. PTE Academic, also know as just PTE is an Unbiased English testing examination for study abroad and immigration. The PTE Academic is trusted by a wide variety of universities, government institutes and colleges around the world.

Modules and test format of PTE Academic –

PTE Academics consists of four different modules which are Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. All the modules are based on the aspects of the language which are of utmost importance whenever learning a new language. The test format for PTE Academic consists of three parts.

Speaking & writing

The first part is Speaking & writing combined together. It can last from 77 minutes to 93 minutes depending upon the questions. This part has multiple different sections which are evaluated in the given time limit. The first section is the personal introduction where questions are asked about yourself and your interests. The second section is a Read aloud section where the candidate needs to read the sentences provided. The next section is to describe images, where you are given an image and are needed to describe the image in your own words. Furthermore, you have to re-tell a lecture that has been given to you. Other sections include summarising written text and writing an essay on a given topic. The time limit for the essay is 20 minutes.

Reading 

This section consists of reading activities where you are given a time limit of 32-42 minutes. In this section, you need to answer multiple questions such as multiple choice questions where you have to choose single or multiple answers. Re-ordering paragraphs based on the order of the sentences. Filling in the blanks based on the context of the paragraph and the provided information.

Listening 

The listening section lasts for about 45-57 minutes and comprises of various activities such as summarizing spoken text, answering multiple choice questions with multiple answers, filling in the blanks, Highlighting correct summary, answering multiple choice questions with single answers, selecting missing words from sentences, highlighting incorrect words and writing from dictation.
